When you hire a search marketing company to help your web site rank on major search engines, one of the first things companies should try to review is the content on their site.  There are certain fundamentals that once in place can greatly assist the efforts of your search marketing companies efforts.  Here is a basic checklist to follow:

- Is your content (message) clear and concise on your home page?

- Have you separated each important area of your business and given them their own separate pages so that key buying and action decisions can be made?

- Do you have clear instructions or content that will naturally lead your visitor to the next step you would like them to take? (Call to action, fill out form, sign up, buy etc.)

- Do you have descriptions with each of your products?

- Do you have content that describes each of your services?

- Does the content on your site match the keywords/phrases that will be used on your web site.

Once this is in place, you want to work with a company like Vertical Leap to continue building your site into an authority site, seen by search engines as one that has value enough to be of interest to searchers looking for your type of expertise or products.

We will discuss more suggestions on Search and Social Media in the next entry.
