Social Media is pretty hot on the radar everywhere at the moment. Every meeting I am attending across all sectors, they are talking about the buzz word ‘social media’. I was at a real estate office yesterday and they had an internal meeting the day prior on the topic.
It’s really refreshing to see that this is something we as search engine optimisation (SEO) experts have been talking about for some time. And before the trend hit we were already including this as part of our overall SEO strategy. It is certainly pricking up the ears of a lot of prospects that are cold to the idea of SEO alone, mention the techniques we associate social media with and immediately there is a different level of interest.
It’s also interesting to see, while the market is gearing up on certain forms of communication, which players are staying alert to consumer needs. We saw in some of our recent articles the rise in Facebook, well, My Space are picking up the pace and adding in functionality that may bring users back...
MySpace has signed a deal with internet communications company Skype allowing MySpace user to easily make free internet calls.
The partnership will allow MySpace’s 110 million monthly users to link their profiles and photos to their Skype accounts, as well as linking MySpace’s instant messenger service, MySpaceIM, with Skype’s 25 million users.
The new service will be available from November in 20 countries where MySpace has localised communities.
Be interesting to see how users numbers translate with the new feature. I mean internet calling is the next natural step for how consumers communicate with each other.....
