A gadget ad

Today Google Australia has launched its new ‘gadget ads’ – these are interactive ads that be embedded into its web pages, it’s pretty cool !!

The advertiser can place these ads through the existing bidding system – this allows the advertiser or agency to bid for a publisher’s site or content theme.

The advertiser can have the option of flash, video, real time feed and transaction functionality, in the past these have been what we’d call static ads, image how much fun the creative teams can have now with these! From today the interactive ads can be used throughout the Google content network.

The benefit of the system is that it allows users to interact with advertiser’s content without the users having to actively search or click through to a landing page.

The new ads will be integrated into Ad Sense, the contextual advertising system for web publishers.

This also opens a huge door and new revenue stream for advertising agencies. It will be interesting to see which agencies grasp the concept first and dominate in the media.
