Get me number one rankings on Google and my business will be successful-Right?
Mon, 26 Mar 2007 10:00:59 by Cameron Winslow

Too often businesses come to an SEO company expecting them to solve all their business issues.  “Get me number one” and “Double my traffic” are phrases we hear every day that are goals of business for an SEO company to achieve.

One of the most important factors of a new Client is to understand their business and sometimes assist the Client in viewing their own business from an online perspective.  What are their goals, strategies, revenue streams, and product/service offerings are just an initial building block to review in a new campaign.

This is essential from the word “GO” to begin the foundation of establishing true Return on Investment for the long-term Client.

Client’s that want their website to be more than just a brochure to their prospective Client base to actually being a 24/7 working representative for their business need to look at what “call to actions” are imperative to long-term strategic success.  This is true whether they are a commercial website or simply building brand awareness in a new market.

When looking at calls to action on your website, a business owner should look at the following areas:

  1. Product and service range expansion-are you limiting your market by price or diversity of range?
  2. Are your calls to action on every page?
  3. Does the website have navigation that is user friendly-or do prospects get lost in the site?
  4. First Impressions-your website is often the first point of contact with your customers-how are you unique
  5. People buy on perception-Design and promote your perception of difference
  6. Answer Why You? And Why your company?  Be clear and Unique in your USP (Unique Selling Proposition)
  7. Model the Masters-Look at companies that are similar in your space and see what you like and dislike about each site-you don’t always have to reinvent the wheel
  8. Know when to delegate-Most businesses wouldn’t dream of handling every aspect of marketing and operations in-house-Why would a professional SEO campaign be different

If you have a clear picture of your business from an online perspective in the beginning, your chance of long-term success increases exponentially.

SEO can get you number one rankings and increase your traffic, but allow your SEO professional to go even further and develop a long-term strategic marketing plan that will also increase your revenue and viability to compete in the emerging technological markets.

Good luck and just remember-Success is in the palm of your hand and your prospects mouse pad-Reach for it!
