Does it sound right? Should I jam some more keywords in? These are the questions that I’m sure anyone who has ever written some content for SEO have asked themselves. The problem is there is real no real set rule on the answer, and believe the answer will probably vary between every good search marketer.
Although there are no set rules on this area of search engine optimization, there are some basic guidelines you should adhere to. If you follow these simple steps when writing your content, you should be on the right track.
SEO Copyright Guidelines:
1. Does it make sense? When you have written your copy, go through it, and hey if it doesn’t make sense, it’s time to start over! 2. Don’t waste your time jamming keywords into every nook and cranny, the search engines are getting more and more sophisticated day by day, and guess what they don’t like it when you try to spam them! 3. Try themes, find out the similar words that mean basically the same thing. Search engines can pick up on themes and they love it! If you can incorporate these themes throughout your site you will also have the benefit of not only writing great content that makes sense, you will widen your spectrum of indexed words in the search engines database, and believe me every word counts. 4. Try and keep it limited to 250 – 300 words a page. By keeping the content short and to the point, you don’t lose track of the message that page is trying to convey. 5. Try and keep your keyword density to around 5%, this is not a specific must be 5%, but more of a round about, if you go 1% above or below it doesn’t mean that you need to start over. 6. Make it user friendly. After all it’s the searcher that you’re trying to capture, and if they can’t make heads or tails of your site you will lose them. So always look it from their prospective, and helps if you can get some friends or family to read your copy, and let you know what they think.
Like I mentioned before, these are guidelines not rules. Remember there is a lot that goes into a great SEO campaign, copy and content plays a big role, but it is only one part of the campaign. If you follow these guidelines, you should be well on your way to writing not only great content for the reader, but also great SEO copy.
Good luck and happy writing.
